EU leaders and Institutions must advance the Clean Industrial Deal 🚨

As competitiveness takes centre stage at this week’s @European Council meeting (20–21 March), we urge EU leaders and Institutions to take bold, decisive actions to implement the Clean Industrial Deal. Europe's industrial future depends on concrete steps that will lead the transition to climate neutrality while keeping Europe globally competitive 🌍.
Ever since the European Industry Summit in February 2025, where the Antwerp Declaration was discussed, Marco Mensink, the Director General of Cefic, stated during the event: “Reading the Clean Industrial Deal, we need the Commission to focus, prioritize the three key actions that improve our situation already this year and put all power, boldness and bravery in the European Commission behind these. And give us a realistic planning for the remaining actions. When we say actions, we mean action, not strategies, policies or plans. Leave no stone unturned and break all taboos. We need the situation to change.”
At that time, Cefic called on all new EU initiatives to be evaluated against the following criteria: Do they keep Europe safe and independent, reduce energy prices, ease the administrative burden on companies, attract investments to Europe, create markets for sustainable products, and safeguard quality jobs in Europe? If the answer to any of these questions is no, EU policymakers should reconsider and revise the proposal accordingly.
Now, the new #Deloitte report translates the enabling conditions of the Antwerp Declaration into Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure effective monitoring and progress towards implementing the Clean Industrial Deal.
@European Commission President @Ursula von der Leyen said it best: “Only what gets measured gets done.” Now is the time for EU leaders and Institutions to act, ensuring accountability and tangible progress.
