Alro Confirms Drowning Death of Employee in Sierra Leone

Slatina, August 3, 2014 – Alro S.A. (BVB: ALR, “the Company” or “Alro”) regretfully confirms that a Romanian employee of its subsidiary Sierra Mineral Holding 1 Ltd. (SMHL) tragically drowned in the lake within the housing complex owned by the mining operator in Sierra Leone. The company has taken all necessary steps to repatriate the body. Alro emphasizes that the death was accidental and not related to the Ebola virus. To date, the virus has not affected the population in the vicinity of SMHL’s mining operations. The company has implemented all necessary precautions to protect its employees and continues to closely monitor the situation at its bauxite mines, prepared to respond as the situation evolves.
