ALRO is the second most transparent ESG reporting BET issuer

- The most comprehensive global research project that investigates transparency of non-financial reporting from listed companies – Global ESG Monitor (“GEM”) – performed research and published a Transparency Ranking of the ESG Reporting for the largest companies in the world;
- GEM measures ESG transparency using the GEM ASSAYTM, a research tool which is adapted year after year in response to evolving market conditions and developments and is based on the relevant guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), ISO Standard 26000 and Accountability and Transparency, 2010a;
- For the first time this year, GEM included Romanian companies in their analysis, and ALRO ranked second on the local market with a score GEM ASSAYTM of 73/100;
- This ranking is yet another confirmation of ALRO’s achievements in consolidating and increasing transparency in reporting ESG information following its industry-leading sustainable and responsible business practices.
Slatina, 8 February 2023 - ALRO S.A. (BSE: ALR, “the Company” or “ALRO”), one of the largest vertically integrated aluminium producers in Europe, measured by production capacity, announces that the Company ranked second in the top of Romania’s most transparent listed companies in terms of ESG reporting.
Global ESG Monitor, the most comprehensive global research project that investigates transparency of non-financial reporting from listed companies, publishes an annual Global Report measuring transparency under six dimensions: balance, comparability, accuracy, timeliness, reliability and comprehensibility. For the first time this year, GEM integrated in their international analysis 20 issuers included in the BET index on the Romanian Stock Exchange, placing ALRO in the high transparency category with a score GEM ASSAYTM of 73/100. Globally, the GEM report is in its second edition and has reached 350 analyzed companies worldwide.

This ranking shows that we have managed to transfer all these achievements into a comprehensive and transparent reporting structure that complies with internationally recognized standards, while following best practices for the benefit of all our stakeholders and showing respect and care for the future", added Marian NĂSTASE.
The GEM ranking is the latest in a chain of achievements in the sustainability area for ALRO. The Company also received the first certification in Europe under the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative’s Third Version of Performance Standard (“ASI Performance Standard V3”). The ASI Performance Standard V3 defines environmental, social, and governance principles and criteria to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 62 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, indigenous peoples' rights, and greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, ALRO’s Sustainability Reports have received the "Best Sustainability Report" 1st and 2nd prize during ARIR (The Romanian Investor Relations Association) Annual Gala for the last three years. Based on eight criteria, an independent jury panel judges the best sustainability reports on the Romanian Capital Market since 2020.

Starting from 18 March 2019, the Index Committee of the Bucharest Stock Exchange approved the inclusion of ALRO (code ALR) in BET, the main index of the market, and in BET-TR, the total return version of BET. ALRO’s shares have been listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange since October 1997 and ALRO represents the first company in the aluminium industry present in these two indices.
Since 2020, ALRO and Vimetco Extrusion are members of ASI (Aluminium Stewardship Initiative), an international association that contributes to enhancing sustainability in the global aluminium sector. In January 2023, ALRO achieved the first certification in Europe under ASI’s Third version of Performance Standards.
